Jessica Proffitt is once again my feature for the month. Jessica is currently on a low mileage running plan that includes a little weight training and cross training. As I mentioned before she has a lot of natural athletic ability that we are just tapping into. Her longest run to date is just 45 minutes, and her longest training week is just 14 miles.
Even with the conservative training Jessica has managed to win 2 of her last 3 races and won her age group in the third. She has run in some very nasty weather this winter and followed my plans closely. She maintains her lean petite frame by eating reasonable portions and choosing nutritious food the majority of the time. Sure she loves ice cream and certainly indulges in it, but in moderation, there is no harm.
Her personal best times before beginning a training plan were as follows:
25:21 5 km (3.11 miles) and 15:08 3 km (1.86 miles)
In her last three races Jessica has run 22:59 for 5 km, 13:44 for 2 miles, and 29:49 for 4 miles.
I expect Jessica to continue making very big gains in the coming months.
