Karen Midden is January's client feature. I've been working with Karen since the end of August after her husband Lenny encouraged her to do so. Since then she has made great gains in her fitness which I attribute to her committment. I can't remember a week that has gone by that she hasn't done two one-hour sessions with me as well as walking and other exercises on her own. She has also encouraged her friend Beth to make some very positive changes in her health and fitness.
Karen has improved her strength, balance and flexibility. She now deadlifts more than 5 times the weight she started with in August, which is particularly significant since that exercise helps her pick up her hefty little grandson. She also does 101 crunches to begin each workout. When she started 10 crunches caused pain and discomfort. Karen has also run up stairs and jumped rope for the first time in years.
Karen is a joy to train. She takes an interests in hows, whys and correct nomenclature. She has learned a lot about her body and proper training and has a talent for naming exercises and equipment. She always leaves me in a good mood, even if that is not the way she found me.
